A teacher accused of impregnating a year 12 student and paying for her abortion has admitted he had sex with her.
Stephen 55, has pleaded not guilty to 11 counts of sexual penetration of a 16- or 17-year-old child.
The alleged victim told the County Court last week that Morrow began a sexual relationship with her in May of 1999, and that she had fallen pregnant in late July of that year.
She told the jury that Morrow had not used contraceptives and that she was a virgin before having sex with him.
He said they had become friends in 1999 but did not have sex until January 2000. Morrow told the jury they had sex only once and that it had been at a motel in Preston.
Morrow said he and the student became friends after she approached him for help with homework.
He said he began driving her home from school and helping her with her homework, and she would talk about her unhappy home life.
Morrow said he drove the girl home an average of twice a week in the latter part of her final year at school when she told him she was pregnant.
But he said their relationship did not begin until the summer holidays after she finished high school when they shared their first kiss.
About two weeks later he said they went to a motel and had sex. Since then they have sex every week.
